New to Center Stage Studio, I held our very first wand making class! We all turned out some pretty NICE wands during our class...Harry Potter would be proud. Just finished a VERY busy month! We finished another year at Fright Fest for Great Adventure...good times, as always. Tony Mandile of Anatomy FX provided some fantastic prosthetics and we welcomed two new make-up artists to the Make-up Room. We all learned a little more from one another and traded a few pointers here and there. Next year is Great Adventure's 50th Anniversarry, so the thrills will be amped up next year with even bigger make-up, more prosthetics and more trails! Next year will be good times...oh yesssss...

I also had the opportunity to make a custom "European" clown nose for Miguel Juan, a clown that has recently joined Ringling Bros. circus! He is traveling across the continental United States at the moment, but hopefully, I will get some pics of him with his new nose to post on the site. I also was contacted to make a custom greek statue for an independent movie. First time doing a small statue, so this should be a blast. That's about it for now....

Credits, credits, credits and Mask Making

Added The Bleeding and She-Wolf Rising to my IMDB credits, as props assistant, working with Monster In My Closet. Also, finalizing all the details on the Mask Making Class for Compleat Sculptor in NYC. That will be the last weekend in September and will run for 2 or 3 days, depending on if you want to use a generic or custom life cast. Check it out!

Killed some lights, a curtain...oh, and a few people

Just completed a student film at Temple University by Karl Starkweather. Applied some bullet holes, applied gallons of blood, shot pressurized blood at a light, a background curtain...oh and a test for the intended shot. We ended up not using the pressurized blood because it was, shall we say, a bit too powerful. Normally, we use the fire extinguisher filled with blood for gun effects. We put it behind the actor and use the pressurized spray to cause a spatter effect when the bullet exits their wound. You see these effects usually on a wall or the like. AND, we put real glass wounds on an actor. Tricky to pull off, but the effect will fantastic, I am sure. I will get updated pics up soon!

Getting ready for Summer!

Finished a test shoot for an unreleased film. All went well. The director wanted a pregnant women to be cut open and have her fetus removed...very nasty, graphic stuff! The effects came out well and we are looking forward to shooting the rest of the film at the end of July. I am also working on a student film which will have a cool glass effect. The actor will have shards of glass throughout his face...that should be a fun one! I am also having a Mask Making class in July at Center Stage Studio in Audubon, NJ AND a Super Hero Movie camp!!! Phew...

And so begins November...

Well, Fright Fest is over and time to get back to the real world... It was a blast as always. I always love work with Jessie, Josh and Tony in the make-up room, making up over 100 ghouls a night! It just keeps getting better every year; next year Tony will have an even bigger hand in planning the Horror Trails and casting some of the talent. I will get some pics up in the photo gallery soon. My stuff is basic, not like the fine art on that site, but it is good to see all the uses of life casting. Good stuff...check it out!

Fright Fest is going well. Will have a few new photos posted in the gallery soon. Also just finished a few masks that I recently sold to a local shop; that will now be available on this site. That's about it for now...see ya!

Halloween is just around the corner, so that means...airbrush and prosthetic make-up for Fright Fest at Great Adventure every Fri - Sun in October, make-up and mask making workshops at Center Stage Studio, helping out my pal Jeremy Selenfriend of Monster In My Closet with a few films, personal projects and keeping my son, Jack, in check with his "boobie song!"
